Each year, Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation grants millions of dollars to organizations and programs that help expand access to quality dental care across Minnesota. This goal is our driving mission.

With large and recognizable providers like HCMC and the Mayo Clinic calling Minnesota home, our state has become synonymous with quality health care. But despite that reputation, Minnesota is also home to many communities that face health care provider shortages. In fact, more than 6 out of 10 Minnesota counties have been federally designated as dental health professional shortage areas.

Thanks to a grant from Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation, Hennepin County Medical Center will begin offering dental services to people with the highest need in their nationally recognized Coordinated Care Center.

According to the Children’s Dental Health Project, this preventative measure is about ten times less costly than the amount of money spent on inpatient emergency care for children with serious decay and infection. Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation’s initiative, Smiles@School, has placed sealants on over 14,000 children in Minnesota, in partnership with dental providers and the Minnesota Department of Health.

Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation’s recent grants to serve as the signature sponsor of the Minnesota Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy along with a grant to Family HealthCare, join the efforts of five additional regional grants totaling more than $1 million to various programs to bring better oral health to Moorhead and the northwestern Minnesota region.
