October 3rd is World Smile Day and to celebrate, we want to share some great reasons to smile.

Smiling can make you feel happier. Smiling has been shown to improve your mood by releasing dopamine and serotonin. It can also help you to relax, releasing some of your anxiety and stress.
Smiling can make those around you happy. Have you ever heard that a smile is contagious? It’s true. Smiling at others can make them feel seen, appreciated, and cared for. Not to mention, they might just catch your urge to smile and put on a happy face themselves.

Smiling can keep you healthy. It lowers stress hormones, blood pressure and heart rate. Smiling has even been known to help boost your immune system by encouraging your body to produce more antibodies, which fight off disease and infection.

Smiling can attract positivity. Smiling more can attract good things, including positive events, experiences, and people. By smiling, you appear more approachable and confident. This can lead to new friendships and opportunities. It can even increase the chance of job promotion.
Smiling can enhance a long and happy life. We have all heard that life is short, so why not try to smile as much as possible with the time we have? Not only that, some studies have suggested that smiling more is associated with living longer. Expressing your happiness can not only enrich your life, but may also extend it.
Well, now that you know why you should smile more, here are a few things that might help:

- Spending time with loved ones, like family and friends
- Listening to your favorite song
- Nice weather
- Revisiting pictures and/or memories of happy times
- A good meal
- Getting a pleasant surprise (a gift, a visit or even a hug)
- Puppies (or pets in general)
- Hearing a silly joke
- Watching a favorite movie or television show
- Art-either creating or viewing
- Visiting your favorite place
- Doing something kind for someone else
Now that we have shared the power of a smile, it’s your turn to unleash it! Smile and share this blog with someone else to spread smiles today. 😁
