Do you have a question about dental insurance for seniors? You’re not the only one! Our support team put together the most commonly asked questions they receive – and their answers! – below.

Do you have any senior plans?

We provide coverage to countless seniors! However, at Delta Dental of Minnesota we choose not to surcharge seniors like other insurance companies do. The price is the same for any age.

Do retirees get a discount?

Retirees have a variety of plan options to help them choose the perfect one to protect their smile! In addition, retirees are not charged application fees or monthly fees.

How do I pay you?

You can choose the method that is most convenient for you! • Most members set up monthly automatic payments on the fifth day of every month. • We also accept credit cards • Paper checks are also accepted for annual payment in full

My dentist says they take Delta Dental. That means they are in my network, right?

Almost every dentist accepts Delta Dental, so the real question is if they participate in the Delta Dental PPO and/or Premier® network. This will determine if they are in your network. Another way to confirm is to call our great customer service team at 1-855-643-3582.

What are the prices of your plans?

2019 Minnesota retiree plans are either just $31.94 per month or $57.37 per month. That means you can protect your smile for less than the cost of a typical cellular phone bill!

Do I lose my coverage once I reach my annual maximum?

Let’s explore that. Our Elite Plans were built with retirees in mind: Your cleanings, exams, and X-rays do not go toward your annual maximum. So, even in the rare event you reach your annual maximum, you may still have coverage. Additionally, even if you do surpass your annual maximum, you still receive your discounts for covered, in-network services.

What is the cancellation process?

We understand that things happen. In the rare event you need to cancel your Individual and Family Plan, contact your broker or customer service at 1-855-643-3582.

What happens if I go to an out-of-network dentist?

With over 91% of Minnesota dentists in our network, our new Elite Plans offer in-network benefits only. If you chose to see an out-of-network dentist, you would not receive coverage.

How soon does coverage begin?

We enroll members for the following month. On the Elite plans, your diagnostic and preventive services will begin on the first of the month. You may qualify for a waiting period waiver; if not, your other covered services will be covered after just 6 months. Please contact us with questions at 1-866-764-5350.

What does “waiting period” mean?

During the waiting period, dental insurance will not pay for certain procedures. Waiting periods ensure that customers are seeking long-term coverage, not just coverage for a big procedure they only need once. It also helps keep dental insurance costs down and rewards members who maintain coverage.
