The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obama Care makes health insurance a requirement for all Americans. However, dental insurance is not required, so, why do you need dental insurance?

1. We need our teeth for everyday activities.

We need to eat to live and our teeth are vital part in aiding in our consumption. Try eating your lunch without the use of your teeth! Might be a little difficult unless you’re on a liquid diet. Also, our communication is dependent on our teeth. Trying saying “lying little Lenny laughed” without letting your tongue touch the back of your teeth. Pretty much impossible, so why not protect your pearly whites, you use them more than you might think!

It has been found that oral health can have effects of cardiovascular health. Oral bacteria can cause inflammation and infections that can lead to heart disease, clogged arteries and stroke. Gum disease can be correlated with osteoporosis and low birth rates for pregnant mothers who are affected. Also, studies have shown that your mouth can exhibit symptoms related to more than 120 non-dental diseases1! Eyes are the window to the soul as mouths are the window to overall health!

3. Dental emergencies happen!

Just like health emergencies, dental emergencies can be happen without warning! Whether a rouge baseball knocks a tooth out at the park or a tooth decides to crack while eating dinner, teeth and their nerves are very sensitive. Ask anyone who has experienced tooth pain, it’s debilitating! It can affect eating habits, social habits, and no one want’s to be in long term pain.
