Your diet is crucial to your oral health

Toothpaste is your friend, but when it comes to oral health, your diet is absolutely crucial. At least that’s what a recent study conducted at the University of Bern in Switzerland found.

The study, which analyzed nine toothpastes for tooth enamel protection, found that while toothpastes perform an important purpose, regularly visiting a dentist and eating healthy foods are just as important to maintaining healthy teeth.

The food we eat isn’t what might come to mind when we think of dental health, but the bacterial in our mouth – largely a result of what we ingest – plays a huge role in our teeth’s health. Foods that are high in acidity, fats and sugar all can damage your teeth. Fruit and veggies, starchy foods, proteins and dairy can all serve to keep your mouth healthy.
