Back-to-school season is the perfect time to help kids brush up on good oral health habits with a new book or two. Books on oral health can be a good way to get children excited about being independent and learning how to take care of their teeth on their own (with a little assistance!). Kick off your collection with a few of our favorites.

Brush, Brush, Brush by Alicia Padron (for children ages 1-3)

This board book is perfect for kids learning about the importance of dental habits. It uses cheerful pictures to demonstrate each step of brushing teeth, like putting toothpaste on the brush and rinsing with clean water!

Going to the Dentist by Anne Civardi (for children ages 3-5)

This book teaches young children about visiting the dentist in an amusing and friendly way. It encourages kids to not be afraid of a dental visit and shares the different tools the dentist uses during a visit.

Brush, Floss, and Rinse by Amanda Doering Tourville (for children ages 5-8)

This book teaches children about the importance of brushing, flossing and rinsing teeth. Kids learn that brushing keeps plaque and cavities away, flossing keeps gums healthy and rinsing gets rid of all of the bacteria that gathers in the mouth.

How Do My Braces Work?: Teeth by Steve Parker (for children ages 8-10)

This book is great for kids who want to learn about parts of the body. Along with an explanation of how braces work, this book gives kids a good understanding of the anatomy of the mouth and teeth and how to keep them clean.

With these fun reads, your little book worms will learn how to keep their smiles sparkling!
